I was trying to take some pictures of Asher today but he wouldn’t listen to me. “Stand here” he’d walk over and stand until I stepped back to take a picture then he’d follow me. I gave up and started taking pictures of some flowers (yawn!). I looked up and he was sitting next to me holding some rocks in his hands. I got up and quickly moved around to the other side of a pillar to take some pictures but he got up and followed me. I then noticed he was holding the rocks up to his face while making a crunching sound with his mouth. “What are you doing with those rocks bud? Are you taking pictures like Daddy?”
“Yeah, I’m taking pictures of the rocks” How cute is that?!?!? LIGHTBULB! I have an old film camera… well I guess technically I’m borrowing it from Asher’s grandfather and or aunt who may or may not want it back. Anyway I figured he’d enjoy “taking pictures” with a real camera more than with rocks and it’d be a cool prop.
He loved it. He would take some pictures then check the back of the camera to make sure he got the exposure right like I do. He had to use his imagination for that part since there is no screen on the back but the shutter sounds and viewfinder were all real! Footnote: Having a Harry Potter scar drawn on his forehead was a higher priority than breakfast this morning.
He likes how that last picture turned out :)
